There aren’t many changes to say from the final draft, as it’s pretty much beat by beat. But this was around the time I decided Tontorus would be introduced as the antagonist, with this chapter demonstrating it. Since the long-term plan is to have these two come together eventually, I wrote it so that his threats are fallen flat by the revelation that mannamong are forbidden to harm humans. This lessens his intimidation factor as he follows that rule despite his hostility when caught with the truth—giving Kali a bit more control over the situation, allowing her to stand up to herself and vent her disdain. A crucial, key moment for her development going forward.
